The Georgia Department of Natural Resources supervises 48 state parks and 15 historic sites, including several wildlife preserves. The National Park Service supervises other parks and historic sites, including several Native American protected lands. In these territories one can find a variety of flora and fauna that belong to the great state of Georgia. The list is a long one but ones that stand out are the white tailed deer and reptiles including the eastern diamondback, copperhead and cottonmouth. If you like fishing, then there is plenty to do here in Georgia. Freshwater game fish such as trout, bream, bass and catfish are very popular. Saltwater game fish such as red drum, spotted seatrout, flounder and tarpon are among favorites as well.

Traveling to Georgia, one should keep in mind the weather of their destination in Georgia. Most areas are humid so it’s wise to go prepared.
