Getting There and Around

Atlanta, Georgia is a popular tourist destination in the US. With its cultural and entertainment-based attractions, both American and non-American tourists are seen flocking to a city that is balanced between a heavily metropolitan city and lush green areas. But how does one get there? How does one get around Atlanta?

Atlanta is primarily connected to the rest of the US and the world via the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport which is one of the world’s busiest airports as per passenger traffic. Planning your travel here is a good idea. Of course that is not the only way to get there. For those already in the US (both tourists and locals) Atlanta can be reached by rail and road alike with buses operating both within Georgia and from other States.

Once you have arrived…how do you get around this city. Atlanta’s metropolitan areas have been ranked amongst the worst traffic-ridden places as most of the locals use cars and other automobiles to get around. This causes high levels of air pollution as well. In these situations it is best to use the subway system operated by Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. Not only is it more green, it saves time and is cheaper too. While single-use fares can be paid, it makes good sense to buy a day-pass to use the public transit system. The day-pass gives the user complete access of the buses and subways and its a good way to go exploring. Just hop on a train and get off when you feel like it. Then simply explore. Soon, these trains will connect to more parts of the city. In addition, a streetcar project has been planned for parts of the city to improve transportation systems. These initiatives all go towards cutting down traffic and the high levels of air pollutions that are the inevitable result.
