Atlanta is the capital city of Georgia and the most populous city in America. It has been the center in immense changes after it became the fourth state to ratify the United States Constitution. Georgian Inforamtion

Georgia is a southeastern state with the ninth largest population in Untied States. The state was established in 1732. It was part of the first thirteen colonies set up by the immigrating British citizens. Its name is derived after the king of Britain, King George II. This was the fourth state in Untied States to ratify the constitution. This is the second fastest state in population growth. Its borders are surrounded by Florida on the south, South Carolina and the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Tennessee in the north and Alabama in the West. It has its capital in Atlanta.

The state covers an area of 60,000 square miles which make it the 24th largest state in Untied States. There is a diversity in the flora and fauna found in this region with more than 250 recorded tree species and 60 protected species. Some of the famous trees from here are the oaks, red cedar, cypress, sweet gum and maples. The fauna here is filled with deer as the majority. The state is also famous for the brown thrasher and northern mockingbird bird species. Reptile also dominates he lands scape with frogs, salamanders, eastern diamondback, alligators toads and copperhead. The climate of Georgia is mainly humid with a subtropical tinge. The state is hot throughout the year with very little rainfall. There is rarely snow seen in this place. There are record number of parks protected in the State of Georgia. There are more than 63 parks here that include 15 historic parks and 47 state parks. These parks are protected under the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the National Park Service. Parks such as Andersonville National Historic Site, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Cumberland Island National Seashore, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, Ocmulgee National Monument and may other dot the Georgian landscape.

Georgia History

Georgia has seen quite a share of historical upsets in its short lifetime. The Georgia as known today is nothing like what it was known a few centuries back. The earliest known establishments of non-native Americans were in the beginning of the 1500 A.D. The people here were mostly considered to be mound builders. This is the way how Georgia was described by the explorer Hernando de Soto. There is a mixture of Spanish and British populations here because many Spanish explorers made way into deep Georgia. There have been many fights over Georgia between England and Spain. The earliest known fights were in 1670 when the England established a colony in Carolina. The Spanish formed colonies in Mocama and Guale i.e. in today’s Georgia.

The fights continued for many decades before the Spanish settlements were completely destroyed by the Native Americans in the beginning of the 17th century. The British Allied with the Native Americans to occupy Georgia after the fall of Spain. This is when the state of Georgia was given its name after the England King George II. After this the British had to fight against the Spanish to increase the size of the Georgia state and also had to fight against France to defend its region. By the 1732 most of the settlers in Georgia were 1732. The number of non-English immigrants was slowly increasing. Religion also helped Georgia become what it is today with the attraction of all kinds of religious people. There were a lot of problems related to the people belonging to different religions here which led to a lot of problems. The Catholics were not allowed to own property and problems such as these. Georgia was one of the 13 colonies that began their revolt against the British over ownership and demanded freedom. In 1776 the declaration of independence was signed which laid the foundation of United States of America.

Go Fishing In Georgia

East of Mississippi, the largest state has 100 miles of coastline fronting the wide expanse of The Atlantic Ocean and 12,000 miles of warm water rivers and streams cutting the forested landscape. Lake Lanier, North east of Atlanta, Lake Seminole at the state’s south west corner and Lake Sinclair near Milledgeville are the hottest fishing spots in the state. These were built for power generation and flood control. Big fish can be found in Lake Lanier and in big waters of Lake Allatoona which are managed by the US Army corps of engineers. The lakes are home to the largemouth bass, crappie and spotted bass. The Lake Lanier is stocked with a fish named Walleye. Allatoona is known for its population of hybrid bass and spotted bass. Many state parks of Georgia are connected with the lakes that can be used for fishing which can be done by using small paddle boats. Fishing and boating go hand in hand and are one of the attractions of Georgia. In addition to these, the Coastal Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has made artificial reefs which are about 8 to 25 miles offshore in water 30 to 75 feet deep. These reefs provide food and shelter to wide variety of fishes as well as worms and crabs.

It is known that Georgia is very famous for its tradition, culture, art and cuisine. From holidays to weddings, the Georgian cuisine follows traditional recipe and each time you eat them, they create memories in you mind. One of the traditional dishes of Georgian cuisine is Fried chicken. This is made in a traditional way by soaking in salt water and butter milk baths then frying it in hot stove. To a southerner eating Grits is kind of following a religion and breakfasts without them are unthinkable. Fried cat fish is another traditional dish. In case of sweet treats, sweet tea is the signature drink of Georgia as well as the juicy ripe peach serves as Georgia’s sweet retreat. Desserts are popular in Georgia in pie form. Muscadine wines are experiencing a comeback and studies have proved that Taking Muscadine produces rich sources of polyphenols and greater amounts of resveratrol which is an oxidant. Perhaps not all of us are big fans of just watching TV? Maybe you are the type who would like to experience the great outdoors and whatever nature has to offer! The Georgia Department of Natural Resources supervises 48 state parks and 15 historic sites, including several wildlife preserves. The National Park Service supervises other parks and historic sites, including several Native American protected lands.
